Cleaning Up Around Camp

Camp needs some TLC. If we don’t mow the forest will take back over the clearing we made.

Yesterday was another hot day around here. We put off mowing at camp but considering the next few days its supposed to rain I decided to go ahead and mow. I didn’t want to chance getting the mower stuck if we go too much rain. Plus I don’t care too much for walking through briars and weeds due to ticks.

It was in the low 90s F when we started and even a bit hotter once we were done. On the plus side we took plenty of water with us so we didn’t get dehydrated.

It was hotter inside the tent than outside!
After mowing all the briars and tall grass.

I think the camp site looks better now since everything is mowed and the trail in was mowed as well. Now we should be able to see snakes and turtles better too!

We picked 6 pounds of figs from our tree.
I spent the afternoon making fig jam/preserves. I add very little sugar and it doesn’t set firm, but spreads well on biscuits!

I hope everyone had a relaxing Independence Day!
