Daylight Savings Time 2024: Gardening and Time Change Reflections

Welcome to Daylight Savings 2024!

What do you think about Daylight Savings Time? This morning I’m not loving getting up an hour earlier and I think I may have overdone it a little while working in the garden yesterday.

More of my thoughts on Daylight Savings can be found in one of my previous posts: The Practice of Daylight Saving Time

We prepared three raised beds and three half barrels for planting. Preparing the beds involves pulling weeds, breaking up the soil, fertilizer, adding compost, and adding more soil.

Once we were done we planted potatoes in the barrels. Then we proceeded to plant a mix of onions in one of the raised beds and garlic in one of the other beds. The third bed will be for my tomatoes. The mint has already started coming up and the rosemary did well over winter.

This year the potatoes will be protected from the deer because we moved those planters inside the garden fence. It wasn’t fun emptying all the soil, moving the barrels, and then refilling with several inches of soil.

I hope you have a great Sunday!
