Be Unique in a World of Sameness
Camellias are the rose of winter in our southern gardens, with their colorful bright blossoms held within deep rich green glossy foliage on a naturally rounded evergreen shrub. I was afraid we wouldn’t see blooms this year due to an extreme cold snap, but all the blooms are beginning to open. They only last a couple of days before dropping to the ground.
I just had to share this one again. This is one shrub and yesterday I noticed that there is a branch that now only has solid color blooms. All the rest are peppermint striped. I think I’ll mark these branches and see if I can propagate additional camellia shrubs of the solid color. I’ll use one of the lower limbs which have a solid bloom which are hard to see.
