Devil’s Trumpet, Double Purple Flower

Devil’s Trumpet, scientifically known as Datura, is a dramatic plant, famed for its large, upward-facing trumpet-shaped flowers. The Double Purple variety is particularly stunning, with its rich, deep violet blooms that add an exotic touch to any garden. Native to the Americas, Datura thrives in well-drained soil and full sun, making it an excellent choice for summer gardens. While their beauty is undeniable, it’s essential to handle them with care, as all parts of the plant are highly toxic. Having grown this plant in the past, I’m now eager to see if I will have any luck with the seeds I saved from this plant in 2009. I have some seeds from a similar plant but those are yellow in color.
Do you collect flower seeds? I hate to say I have so many that I had to buy special containers just to sort and store them.

Have you had any luck germinating seeds that were 15 years old?

What a stunning looking flower, and a bit scary, since it is toxic! Hope you have luck with the saved seeds. My mom always had lots of saved seeds from everything! I tried them one time, and they were too old I guess, as nothing came up. :
