Piedmont Azalea: Captivating Beauty of the Southeastern United States

The native Alabama azalea, known as the Piedmont, is a treasure close to my heart. Its enchanting presence in spring is something I always look for when I go hiking on our property. This particular variety is often found in the southeastern United States, particularly in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains. Each time I catch a glimpse of them they never fail to captivate me.

With its delicate blossoms ranging from soft pink to vibrant coral, the Piedmont azalea brings a burst of color and fragrance to the springtime scenery. Whether found in the wild or carefully cultivated in gardens, its graceful form and adaptability add a touch of timeless elegance to any setting. As I wander through sun-dappled forest, the Piedmont azalea serves as a reminder of the enduring beauty and charm of the spring in the South.

This year I’ve tried to propagate a couple of cuttings in order to add more to our property.
