New Adventures in a Pop-Up Camper

A few weeks ago we (or I should say I – with hubby’s approval) decided it was time to move from tent camping to something a little more ‘sturdy’. My back just couldn’t take sleeping on an air mattress or crawling in and out of a tent. I found a great deal at an RV dealership about 2 hours drive from home and decided to check it out. Once we saw it I was sold. Now we have our little cabin on wheels that we can tow pretty much anywhere.

So we went from this Sears Hillary 2 Room Tent with Rain Fly- Great for clear weather but leaks pretty bad if it rains.

With the camper, we got all the original equipment and documentation. I doubt there are many miles on the camper or either they were really good at taking care of it for the past 11 years.

Our first trip was to Chewacla State Park and it was awesome! The weekend turned out very warm and it was nice to have air conditioning and a good bed to sleep in.

Here is where the fun begins. Since I’ve always liked to ‘tinker’ with things and an engineer by trade there will be tons of modifications to come! I’ve already built a media center for it that runs off my Raspberry Pi, modified the sink drain so that the sink drains faster, and next up is to build some shelving for the galley. Even though it sounds like work it’s all fun to me!
