Terracotta Planter Moisture Hack: A Step-by-Step Guide

Take one terracotta planter. Insert a shopping bag inside. This will help the planter hold moisture. It will also make certain the terracotta won’t dry it out too fast.

Take one terracotta planter that seems to absorb all the water from my plants…

Add a little potting soil and then trim away the extra part of the bag that folds over the top.

Plant your flowers. Before it’s completely full of soil, trim down the bag. Leave only about an inch. Fold over the edge of the bag and cover with the final layer of soil.

Fill with potting soil most of the way, trim excess plastic from around the edges, then add your plants. Fill around the edges and when almost to the top, tuck in the edge of the bag and cover.

Water and place in a sunny location.  I also re-purposed an old pot that I found while hiking too.

There was a hole in the bottom. I thought it would make a good planter for a small tomato plant.
