Soft, moist, and intensely flavored gingerbread loaf with molasses, ginger, and cinnamon. Tastes just like the holidays!

Method
- Cream shortening, add sugar gradually.
- Add beaten egg mixed with molasses.
- Dissolve soda in the sour milk.
- Mix and sift flour, ginger, cinnamon, and salt together, and add alternately with the sour milk to the first mixture.
- Pour into greased loaf pan.
- Bake in a moderate oven (350 °F) for 20 to 30 minutes.
- This can be made at breakfast time and baked to serve hot for dinner or supper, by keeping it in the ice box. Serves 6-8.
